Practice AP Calc BC exam

On Saturday, May 4th the GT dept will offer an opportunity to practice taking the multiple choice section of the AP Calc BC exam starting at 11am in the JHS media center.

Roger will administer a released exam from the college board so that students can have a test like experience before the exam to practice.  Students will not be able to take the exam with them but they will have the opportunity to see the answers afterwards and to take notes on what types of problems they struggled with.  Students will get 1 hour and 45 minutes to take the 45 question exam and then they can take up to an hour to correct it and take notes.

Students should bring whatever calculator they plan to use on the exam to the practice exam so that they are practicing using it under test like conditions.

Please RSVP to Roger Skophammer <rskophammer@isd271.org> by Wednesday, May 1st so that we have enough copies of the exam for the students.  - Meredith

STUDY LESS, WITH GREATER INTENSITY In this era of social media and digital distractions, many students—and adults—do a lot of multitasking. Supporting Your Gifted LGBT Student Updated:  Jan 29, 2019 By Alessa Keener. We live in unprecedented times, where many Americans can proudly and safely live as out lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. One measure of progress is in the number of states that have marriage equality –15 states as of today and the District of Columbia. Despite the many positive steps our country continues to take to overcome discrimination and crimes against LGBTQ people, concerns still exist about the safety of our young people and their coming out process. Substance abuse, self-injury, homelessness, and suicide affect a disproportionate number of youth who identify as LGBT. When children grow up both gifted and LGBT, they oftentimes experience a
