2018 DA Middle School High Altitude Balloon Launch

April 25, 2018 This year both OGMS and OMS students in DA worked together on the high altitude balloon launch.  It was a beautiful day and a great success!

Congrats to JHS Honors Diploma graduates!

2018 Honors Diploma This year at Jefferson, 49 seniors applied and qualified for an Honors Diploma.  These students acquired a minimum of 34 AP/Honors credits in the core academic areas and have at least two credits in fine arts, foreign language or Project Lead the Way courses, maintaining at least a “B” average while doing so.  This option provides an incentive to pursue a comprehensive program of AP/Honors throughout high school and is an important component of Jefferson’s gifted and talented program. Chess Champions!

Please help us congratulate the JHS Chess Team who competed at the Minnesota State Chess Association’s Scholastic Statewide Tournament on March 24-25. On an individual basis in the K-12 th  grade section, senior David Floeder achieved 5 th  place, junior Aaron Thomson placed 6 th  and 9 th  grader Serena French placed 9 th , junior Joshua French also competed and helped the team tie for 2 nd  place and brought home the 3 rd  place trophy in a nail biting tie breaker tournament ending game. The tournament took place at St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul. Congratulations chess players!  Thomson, French, French and Floeder are all DA HS students or DA HS graduates!

Jefferson Representatives to Boys and Girls State Announced

Juniors  Ella Jones,  Abigail Faulk, Charles Maki and    Ryan Martz  have been selected to represent Jefferson at Boys and Girls State. Each year the American Legion Boys and Girls’ States are among the most respected and selective educational programs for government instruction for high school students. Girls and Boys State are participatory programs where each student becomes a part a model government that reflects our federal system of government.  Participants learn about the rights, privileges, duties, and responsibilities that go along with being a citizen. The experience allows students operate city, county and state governments by being elected to the various offices.  Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.  High school juniors are sponsored by local American Legion Posts to attend the programs.  Boys State and Girls State teaches government through firsthand experien

Parent and Student Workshop

Rea  Banerjee and Jillayne Clark, both 10th graders in the DA HS program, tied for the top score on the AMAYTC ( American Mathematical Association of Two- Year Colleges  )  Student Math League exam this year at Normandale Community College!  They will be recognized by Normandale this spring with a cash prize and an award from the math department!  Congrats to  Rea and Jillanye !
