Supporting Teachers at Kennedy and Jefferson

The gifted department offers a vareity of ways that we support teachers. Below is what I shared with teachers at KHS and JHS today.

National Association for Gifted Children Conference 2018

We were fortunate to have Minneapolis as the host city for the NAGC conference this weekend. I got to attend with many educators from Bloomington including Kris Krenz, Kathryn Haddad, Josh Coval, Lori Schultz and Nick Hupton. I got to go to lots of sessions and think about how to improve myself as an educator and how do I improve the services that we provide for students in Bloomington. I love opportunities like this. It gives me a time to reflect and to get motivated. Congrats to the new members of KHS National Honor Society!

I had a great time on Monday night at the KHS National Honor Society induction ceremony.  I got to speak to the new inductees and to see my students from AP US Government being school leaders!  It was exciting.  Thank you for letting me be a part of this important event!

Congratulations to KHS Boys/Girls State Representatives!

Juniors  ULYSES PEREZ PEREZ  and ROCIO LUCIO  have been selected to represent Kennedy at Boys and Girls State. Each year the American Legion Boys and Girls’ States are among the most respected and selective educational programs for government instruction for high school students. Girls and Boys State are participatory programs where each student becomes a part a model government that reflects our federal system of government.  Participants learn about the rights, privileges, duties, and responsibilities that go along with being a citizen. The experience allows students operate city, county and state governments by being elected to the various offices.  Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.  High school juniors are sponsored by local American Legion Posts to attend the programs.  Boys State and Girls State teaches government through firsthand ...
